We all have them stacked in a draw or bag or stuffed in our wallet - what are they? The business card!
A few months ago, confronted with his pile, one of our Directors found a fantastic and free way to get them off his desk and into our contact system..
CardMunch, by LinkedIn, is a free iPhone App that allows you simply to take a picture of the business card and then somewhere in the world a bunch of people transcribe the card! Our experience is that this is not 100% perfect, but 99.6% - so not bad and a lot cheaper in terms of time and money!
Apart from the obvious time and money saving feature, the fact that CardMunch then also correlates the card detail with what it knows from the LinkedIn database means you can update your contacts details e.g. position, place of work or telephone number etc.
Our top tip for this app is to set-up the preferences first to ensure as they munch the contact is automatically transferred to your iPhone's address book.
The only down side seems to be this app is only for the iPhone.
