Hey Mr SuperMarket be my friend...

Question - when was the last time you walked up to your local supermarket and said "be my friend!" And what where you met by (except the security guard!)? Stoney silence.
So why does business and organisations want to be our friends on social networks? They will never have a 'conversation' with us or comment on the cute picture of little Jimmy.
The reality check - consumers want brands to be friends to get either discounts or the inside track on when the next album from Florence + the Machines is coming out.
Organisations want to be our friends because we are more likely to see our Facebook or LinkedIn wall today than go to their website - being our friend allows them to push information to us in the hope we will see it and perhaps do something.
It's unlikely to be a cute picture of the CEO's children for us to comment on!

For those who don't know, the world is changing and perhaps by chance or luck or even by design, T-Mobile and Orange have hit the nail on the head about how people want things with their newly merged company name "everything, everywhere".
Today, we want to have a look at the world of online publications - those things we once printed thousands off are becoming ePublications as we think we can save money, but what if we could also deliver something our consumers want - wouldn't that be good?
